Recorded in various locations over a two year period, Tone Flakes has been a while in the making, but sounds all the better for it. The album was recorded almost entirely with a bizarre array of children´s instruments and toys. It´s sound evokes strong feelings of childhood nostalgia. White combines various layers of musical elements to create a dense melodic bed of sound. The intertwining tonal riffs and phrases compete for the listener´s attention, so no one piece quite sounds the same twice. In the words of White, it is the sonic equivalent of sticking you tongue out in a snow shower. Tone Flake´s themes, sometimes intricate, sometimes simple, the work unfolds over repeated listening. White originally released Tone Flakes as a special limited edition CD with handmade packaging. E-label, Cozy Music is now making Tone Flakes available digitally for all to experience.
