With beginnings in the mid-nineties, this Providence-based artist got his start in acid house, later moving to drum n´bass and experimental electronic music. James, along with two other members of Rebelmedia Recordings, made up Mysticism & Logic, playing the east coast and headlining venues such as the Earth Day Fest at the Lewiston Civic Center in Maine and The Rinse in Boston, Massachusetts.
In the winter of 2001, Rebelmedia Recordings built a live/work studio in New Hampshire and began work on a follow up for Mysticism & Logic's well received debut. Early in the process, the group suffered serious legal and financial setback, disbanding Mysticism & Logic and ultimately leaving James the time and opportunity to devote to a new genre-bending solo project.
Ted James began the initial production and performance of his techno-savvy laptop rock in 2002. Calling on his many influences, he paired acoustic guitars and vintage drum boxes with original vocals and lyrics. Out of the woods, James returned to Providence with a new sound. His first full-length album is due out on Cozy Music and Rebelmedia Recordings this fall.
Ted James spins work from his solo projects, as well as IDM & glitch hop, and minimal techno & house. James relaunched Rebelmedia Recordings in 2007, which is dedicated to the production of independent music and a home-base for his own releases. |
